Drama Movies about Ghosts

Below you can find a selection of movies about ghosts that, despite their serious tone, are not as scary as those found on the horror movies page.

Always (1989)
Always Richard Dreyfuss plays a daredevil pilot who dies after saving the life of his buddy while fighting a runaway forest fire. Holly Hunter is the girl he leaves behind until he comes back as a guardian angel to a beginner pilot. Directed by Steven Spielburg. Available from Amazon.com.




Ghost (1990)
Ghost One of the most memorable romantic films ever and winner of two Academy Awards(R), Sam (Patrick Swayze), living as a ghost, discovers his death wasn't just a random robbery gone bad. To help him reconnect with the love of his life, Molly (Demi Moore), and solve his own murder, he enlists the talents of a skeptical psychic (Oscar(R)-winner Whoopi Goldberg), who doesn't even believe her own abilities. The Wraith (1986)
The Wraith This movie centers around a small-town bully who terrorizes locals and his girlfriend with the help of his gang. Enter a mysterious driver who challenges them to a series of races, only to disappear after winning the race (and killing the villians). A Christmas Carol
If I had to guess, I would say A Christmas Carol is the most famous of all the ghost movies I've listed. It has certainly been done, and redone, numerous times. (I've found over 50 versions and that does not include foreign versions or telvision episodes.) If you are not familiar with the story, I'm guessing you've been stuck somewhere without a theater or television for the past few years. Here is a rundown of the various versions available for the famous Charles Dickens tale:

Hamlet
Like A Christmas Carol, Hamlet is a movie that has been done and redone numerous times. I've found over 100 different versions. Rather than list them all here, which seems redundant, I've picked some of the more famous or favorite versions.
